Ancient Martians were a race of sentient, telepathic beings who inhabited Mars long before humanity ever set foot on it. Their species went extinct, leaving behind their ruins and technology.
Biology[]
Although not much is known about the ancient Martians, hieroglyphics left in ancient ruins depict a species of multi-limbed creatures, resembling 'large germs'.[1] There is evidence that suggests that Martians communicated telepathically with each other, and were almost completely identical to each other in biological structure.
The closest to a living specimen encountered by a human being would be Miasma, who spliced Martian DNA with her own DNA.[2] In her ancient Martian form, Miasma demonstrated remarkable healing prowess, able to regenerate multiple tentacles each time she lost one limb. She also possessed telepathic abilities, as well as having greater strength and an improved reaction time.
Culture[]
Ancient martians built many underground compounds storing their items. One such compound featured a birthing chamber and a bunker type room a platform to bring the egg of Purus up to the surface. However this room may have been refit by Miasma to protect herself.
Artifacts[]
Death Mask of Grimpotheuthis[]
Egg of Purus[]
The egg of purus was a bomb designed to eradicate biological material that was genetically Ancient Martian. And since hieroglyphics suggest the ancient martians reproduced asexually by mitosis, they shared the same genetic signature as each other.
Throne of Architeuthis[]
Last owned by Samantha Cartwright before she was killed, and the throne stolen. The throne allowed whoever sat on it to access unlimited knowledge, answer any question asked of them.
Vampiris Key[]
Originally the key belonged to a Samira Hadad, stolen along with more of her belongings[3].
However, as of the second live show, the key belonged to a travelling circus who used it to perform stunts. The key could be used to lock away the concept of ugliness around a performer, making them the most beautiful person, or it could lock away gravity so a person could float, or lock away sound so an assassin could sneak around completely unheard.
Lassonionic Capsule[]
The Lassonionic Capsule is a small red, indestructible, gem-like pill that was acquired by Saffron Pharmaceuticals. They determined that the capsule could enable whoever took it with the ability to detect electrical impulses of peoples' brains, thus making them capable of reading their thoughts. Dr. Lillian Strauss, a scientist from Saffron, hypothesized that the capsule was a supplement meant for ailing ancient Martians, since it was far too potent for human consumption.
When Juno Steel consumed the capsule, he was immediately overwhelmed by the thoughts of people around him and quickly fell unconscious. Doctors attempted to remove the capsule from his blood stream, but were unable to do so. Despite being unconscious, Juno was still able to pick up on other people's thoughts.[4][5]
The capsule had created a parasite-like growth in Juno's head behind his right eye.[6] Miasma was able to recreate the growth by capturing Juno and studying the organism attached to his eye. As Juno continued to push his telepathic abilities to the limit, he experienced increased pain and headaches until his eye was eventually destroyed.
