The Revenge of the Janus Beast is a bonus episode from the first season of The Penumbra Podcast. It was released October 11, 2016.
Overview[]
In the Second Citadel’s Hall of Trophies lie remnants of hundreds of monsters… and some of them are livelier than others. The head of the Janus Beast, for example: it’s been here for weeks, and it’s growing bored. Very bored. Can the Janus Beast’s head break out of its case using nothing but its two faces, magic spells, and one tiny, tiny, little, really-just-impossibly-small brain?
Episode Summary[]
A tour guide describes several trophies on display, probably in the castle, disdainfully introducing and rushing past the head of the Janus Beast. Once out of earshot, the two faces of the Janus Beast's head argue about how to attempt an escape. Gawain the dog enters the room, and the head assumes he is a human, as he has only one face and two eyes. They attempt to bewitch him, but his desires are centered on things like "snuggling" and "running outdoors," and he simply barks at them. Sir Caroline enters the room, rebukes the head, and cuts a little more off of it to limit its motion, after cooing at Gawain that he's a good boy.
