“ | If it's between the drop and Lawrence Hoffman, I'll take my chances with the drop! | ” |
—Chip Hoffman
Chip Hoffman is a somewhat oblivious man who is chronically unemployed and loves his sister, Lydia Hoffman, very much.
Early Life[]
Was adopted by Lydia Hoffman's parents, but ended up raised mostly by his sister as his parents forgot about him. At some point moved in with his sister and then brother-in-law Lawrence Hoffman. During this time he originally borrowed money from them to spend on frivolously expensive items and clothes, but Lawrence put a stop to any money borrowing. After that, he claimed to have a job in sales and instead stole from Lydia and Lawrence, both their money and their research, which he sold to an unspecified party.
At the dinner party 27 years ago, he was attempting to get back on Lawrence's good side by helping with the investor dinner. His idea of helping was poisoning the dinner with the poison sacs of a Bacchan pufferfish, whose poison is known to cause giddiness and laughter. He poisoned everyone but Lydia. The dinner ended with everyone unconscious except for Lydia, allowing her to kill Monty the alien cockatiel with no witnesses.
History[]
When confronted by a P.I sent by Lawrence Hoffman, Juno Steel, he attempts to escape by any means necessary. This includes trying to climb the 16-foot fence surrounding the hover island, which he fails at. Once Juno and Rita manage to get him calm enough, he tells them about the dinner party 27 years ago and connects them with Lydia Hoffman, who he meets with for breakfast every wednesday.
Personality[]
Is very oblivious, reckless, and irresponsible. Seems to genuinely believe he could win back Lawrence's favor after stealing from him. Incredibly overdramatic, often to comedic effect. Seems unaware of ever doing anything wrong.
Relationships[]
Lydia Hoffman[]
Chip trusts his sister and completely relies on her to get him out of trouble whenever he gets into it, which is often. They still get breakfast together every Wednesday even in their old age. After introducing Juno and Lydia, he apologises profusely to Lydia before leaving, as she seemed very unimpressed with the situation.
Lawrence Hoffman[]
Chip is very wary of Lawrence to the point of being afraid. He seems to have never not been on Lawrence's bad side, but still tries to redeem himself by "helping" them, which usually makes Lawrence angrier. Lawrence does not like Chip.
