Hanataba is a hypothetical doctor who has established clinics across the galaxy to help people who can't be seen by other doctors. She is apparently well known among doctors.[1] There are only two known clinics, one on Mars near the Cerberus Province and one on Jupiter.
Clinics[]
The clinic on Mars seems to have a kitchenette of some kind, as Jet Siquliak is making breakfast when Juno Steel wakes up from his treatment.[2] The clinic on Jupiter has specialised equipment for drug addiction and withdrawal.
History[]
Jet treats a friend in the clinic near the Cerberus Province, who had a cybernetic leg.[3] After their first meeting, Jet takes Buddy to the same clinic to replace her irradiated heart, digestive system and eye.[4] He sells the Ruby Seven to afford her replacement eye.[5] As payement for helping him and Buddy with their sale, Jet takes Juno to a clinic to remove his THEIA spectrum eye.
After the Aurinko Crime Family's escape from Dark Matters, they hide out on Jupiter because of the Hanataba clinic there in order to treat Jet's withdrawal symptoms from the Neomethamphetamines he was dosed with.
Ideology[]
Hanataba has a strong philosophy that comes through in her treatment style, with instructions that take time for things like drinking Jovian tea and clearing the mind. It is important that the patient wants to be treated, and wants to live. In the clinic on Jupiter that specialises in detox, the treatment cannot begin unless the patient themself turns on the machine.
Additionally, in instances involving cybernetics, the patient may hallucinate a series of challenges which they seem to have to succeed in order to survive the operation.
