“ | My name’s Juno Steel. And I’m…just a guy who wanders into near-certain death in the desert and then gives the glad eye to his probable killer. ...Y’know, saying that out loud, a lot of criticisms I’ve taken over the years suddenly make a lot more sense? |

Overview[]
I do suggest you reconsider this particular destination, Traveler. Most places on Mars are dangerous, but the desert holds threats no human can survive. Radiation beats down from above, subterranean predators rumble below, and before you lies nothing but sand and heat and time.
And behind you… do you see that growing shadow in the distance, Traveler? It is always there. And depending on how you play your cards, it may be your only way out… or the most dire threat of all.

Trivia[]
- This episode arc contains several references to the classic film Casablanca (1942), as both the film and these episodes seem to revolve around similar premises.
- Both Casablanca and this episode arc feature two former lovers, with one looking to rekindle their romance and save them. However, in Casablanca, Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) decides to let Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) leave with her husband, while in "Time Gone By," Buddy and Vespa reunite and decide to try again.
- Similarities can be drawn between Rick Blaine and Buddy Aurinko—both own establishments in which illicit activities occasionally take place, and both have been waiting for their lovers in a remote location for years.
- The title "Juno Steel and the Time Gone By" seems to be a reference to the song "As Time Goes By," which is played throughout Casablanca.
- The initials of Semi-Automatic Music Machine are S.A.M.M., which is a reference to Sam, the piano player.
