This list compiles the known knights of the Second Citadel.
Knights of the Crown[]
Knights currently sworn to Queen Mira in canon
Sir Absolon[]
Sir Absolon the Swift is the Captain of the journeyman knights, and Captain of the Guard of the Second Citadel. He is presumably in charge of admission into their ranks. He was Sir Damien and Sir Angelo's teacher, and warned Sir Damien that Sir Marc is not to be trusted.[1] He is condescending to Queen Mira and Sir Caroline, and romanticizes the adventures and skills of many former knights. His priority is to teach knights to be "killing machines."[2] He suggested to Queen Mira the expansion of the definition of "monster" to include traitors, defectors and human magic users. He naively trusts the off-world invaders as he believes their philosophy about killing monsters matches that of the Second Citadel.
Sir Andrews[]
Sir Andrews is a knight working as a guard under Sir Absolon. Likes Sir Marc. Voiced by Harley Takagi Kaner.[3]
Sir Charles[]
Sir Charles was a knight in Sir Caroline's guard, before Sir Absolon took the position. A bit of a worm. Voiced by Harley Takagi Kaner.
Sir Douglas[]
Sir Douglas is a knight who worked under Sir Galahad after the invasion of Silvershore. Is ambushed and knocked out by Angelo when him and Ale sneak into Sir Galahad's camp.[4]
Sir Dixon[]
Sir Dixon is a knight working as a guard under Sir Absolon. Does not like Sir Marc. Voiced by Kevin Vibert[3]
Sir Frederick[]
Sir Frederick is a knight who works under Sir Absolon. He does not play along when Sir Absolon misrepresents past events.[5]
Sir Nathan[]
Sir Nathan is a knight of the newer generation who followed Sir Tristan into Silvershore. He tried to get Sir Tristan to talk about the greatest monster he slew at the party before the invasion of Silvershore.[6]
Sir Richard[]
Sir Richard the Thorough is a knight dispatched to Ballast to search for witches. Absolon claims he works slowly, and slays too few monsters.[5]
Former Knights[]
Knights who have resigned from their position
Sir Angelo[]
Sir Angelo the Strong was known as a knight for his incredible strength. Sir Damien's best rival, and friend to all. Throughout season 3, the undisputed greatest knight in the Second Citadel. He resigns having had his faith in knighthood irrevocably shaken by the Kite, and resolves to go out and see the world from the perspective of the people he swore to protect.[7]
Sir Caroline[]
Sir Caroline was a knight of the Second Citadel. She was, notably, the only female knight. She was heavily discouraged from pursuing the career, but was forced to be admitted when she successfully passed the tests. She was promoted by Queen Mira to Investigator General, but resigned from that position, thinking herself unfit for a leadership position based on her actions towards Amaryllis of Exile. The Queen then immediately re-promoted her to a leadership position, this time Captain of the Guard. She leaves this position after losing her belief in the necessity of her job, partially due to meeting Ale and battling the Kite, and finally leaves The Second Citadel entirely after losing her respect for Queen Mira as a commander.[7]
Sir Damien[]
Sir Damien the Pious was a knight of The Second Citadel named after Saint Damien, the Saint of tranquility and the sea. He often calls upon the saint as a way of trying to calm his many anxieties. Engaged to Rilla, and romantically involved with Lord Arum. He was formerly tied for the status of greatest knight in the Second Citadel with Sir Angelo, but has resigned from knighthood due to a moral disagreement with Sir Absolon and Sir Caroline, likely related to the slaying of monsters. In season 3, he now lives near The Keep.
Sir Marc[]
Sir Marc the Salamander Knight is a knight of the Queen who took the exams to become knighted 291 times after repeated attempts to stop him from succeeding. However, he was barred from being officially knighted because the Queen's throne room was not accessible to his disability. He traveled the countryside to prove himself worthy of knighthood, along with his younger brother Talfryn. After aiding Sir Caroline, Sir Angelo, and Sir Damien (amongst other civilian combatants) in defeating the Fear monster and the Maneater Damselfly, he was finally granted admission to the Knights of the Crown. He became swept up in the philosophy of monster-killing despite befriending a monster, and became right hand man to Sir Tristan the Cold. He eventually snapped out of it and helped Ale steal Saint Aaron's Hammer.
Sir Talfryn[]
Sir Talfryn, also known as Tal, was an aspiring knight of the Second Citadel who traveled the countryside with his brother Sir Marc in pursuit of monsters to impress the Queen. He is a masterful tracker, but has a waning interest in knighthood as the series progresses. At the end of season two, he considered giving up his pursuit of knighthood, but later[8] serves as "Sir Talfryn" with Caroline as his commanding officer. His interests still differ from "knightly" pursuits, and he spends much of his time distracted by animals and avoiding killing monsters.
Golden Age Knights[]
Knights prior to the current generation, considered to be exemplary monster killers. As of the season 3 finale, they are now being sought and dealt with by The Weirdo Brigade
Sir Agravaine[]
Sir Agravain is named by Galahad as a good knight. Mira says he "drank on the job."[7] Alongside Sirs Lamorak and Galahad, he was one of the only knights to support Sir Marc's induction into the knights.[4] His name is a reference to the Arthurian figure.
Sir Bedivere[]
