Melinda Rao is the daughter of Horace Rao and the mother of Skipper Rao, who helps run the company that sells the products of Grandpappy's Recipe. She acts as translator for her father and does whatever he asks, but doesn't seem too happy about it.
Early Life[]
Was raised in the Rao family, which was a tight-knit group that profitted off of Grandpappy's Recipe for generations.
History[]
When Juno visits the Raos to offer his services, she is much more accepting of his offer, but when Horace denies his request she goes along with it. Orders Skipper to go on guard duty that night, much to his chagrin. Invites Rita over for dinner.
Personality[]
A strict woman who tries to be as inoffensive as possible. Secretly has a flair for the dramatic. Generally a proud and upstanding woman, but when her father gets involved she yields to what he says whether or not she agrees with it.
Relationships[]
Horace Rao[]
Melinda does whatever he says, but seems to harbor some resentment toward him. She acts as translator for him even though he could choose to speak and save her the trouble. She will follow his orders even if she doesn't understand or agree with them, and it's clear she wants more power in the family.
Skipper Rao[]
The two are close, and seem to get along better when Horace isn't there. They disagree about the company.
Unnamed Husband[]
Melinda seems to take out her frustration on her husband, snapping at him whenever he speaks, which he responds to with cheerfullness.
