Oldtown

This article is a stub. You can help The Penumbra Podcast Wiki by expanding it.Oldtown is a derelict area of Hyperion City, Mars. It is where Juno Steel, Benzaiten Steel, Mick Mercury, Sasha Wire, and Annie Wire grew up.

Oldtown is close to the edge of Hyperion City's dome. It is an area riddled by widespread poverty and crime, in addition to having the highest fatality rates and lowest high school graduation rates. Rather than address these issues, Hyperion decided "to keep it comfortable until it passed quietly". It has a long disused subway station that not even the residents know about, as well as an extensive sewer system inhabited by rabbits.

Newtown

As of Juno Steel and the Long Way Home (Part 1), Oldtown had been completely torn up and renamed "Newtown" by Mayor Ramses O'Flaherty. New apartment buildings were built and made with cheap labor done by the THEIAs. Each inhabitant was given a personalised apartment and implanted with a THEIA soul, to mind control them to eradicate criminal behaviour. The THEIAs were eventually removed, and the clean housing and improved infratructure remains.

Afterwards, half a million residents of Newtown appeared from seemingly nowhere and claimed to have lived there their whole lives, all discrediting the idea that THEIAs existed.

Later, Newtown has once again been overrun with crime, this time with criminals using cybernetic enhancements.
