Omar Khan is the captain of the Hyperion City Police Department, 151st precinct. He is the father of several children and the Galaxy's Best Dad.
He works closely with Lieutenant Loo, one of the only other "good" cops in Hyperion City, to combat the corruption that pervades the HCPD[1].
Early Life[]
Khan was raised by his mothers, affectionately referred to as Big Mom and Little Mom. Little mom made them curried lasagna every Tuesday without fail[2]. He favors Earth furniture and traditions, implying close cultural ties.
Before the start of the series, he married his current wife, Noor, and had many children (Juno notes: "half-a-dozen sand-sleds up against the wall over there. I can tell at least three of your kids are little because one, those mittens are tiny and adorable, and two, all the left ones are missing"[3]) together. They are working on their communication and respecting each other's space.
Khan took over as captain of the 151st precinct at some point after Juno left.
History[]
Juno goes to him for help with the Miasma situation, but he doesn't believe him. He attempts to arrest Juno at Ingrid Lake's party, but Juno evades him. He picks up a call from Juno's secretary Rita, who informs him all of Ingrid's art is stolen. He goes in to arrest Ingrid just as she is about to kill Valles Vicky and stuns her before she gets the chance. He agrees to let Juno and Vicky go for fear of bad press.
He runs into Juno again while trying to intercept one of Pilot Pereyra's crimes. He and Juno work together only reluctantly after Juno implies that he has more intel on the robbery Pilot is going to commit than he actually does, and as a result of their lack of preparation, the two are forced to helplessly stand by while a guard they didn't expect to encounter and had stunned unconscious is killed to make a point.
Personality[]
Khan, despite being a cop at the HCPD, is a good person, who really wants to make things better for people.
He also cares deeply about his family.
"He’s a real nice man, once you get past all the screamin’. Doesn’t know a thing about art," though, according to Rita at the end of Juno Steel and the Stolen City (Part 2).
Trivia[]
- Harley Takagi Kaner stated in a patreon commentary that they like that Khan and his wife's relationship isn't perfect but they are working on it, probably also going to couple therapy.
- Kaner further stated that Khan knows all his kids very well, but does not know how many exactly there are.
