In the days following the fall of the First Citadel, humanity's last survivors looked to their Saints for guidance through drought, exhaustion, and famine. And many, many years later, four humans and a lizard-bug-man-thing found themselves with a daunting task of their own: to make it through a family dinner without driving each other completely insane.
Which had it harder? It's a toss-up, honestly.

Episode Summary[]
Rilla is struggling to organise everything for the last night of Saint's Rise. Lord Arum is trying to help by making Saint Aaron's stew, but to her frustration he just can't quite do it right. She grumbles at Damien not being there on time, and when he shows up in good spirits she snaps at him. Sir Marc and Sir Talfryn arrive, and Damien promises to be polite to Marc despite them not liking each other. There comes a snag in the plans when Damien realizes that he will not get to tell the story of the Saints all by himself.
As they sit down for dinner, Arum grumbles about not being able to eat yet, though his food is a bowl of fruit and cannot get cold. Damien and Marc agree to take turns telling the tale of the Saints, but start arguing about accuracy vs entertainment until Rilla can't take it anymore and storms off. The four of them contemplate what Saint's Rise means to Rilla, due to her parents abandoning her, and her trying to make a new family with them. Damie and Marc feel terribly guilty, and start creating an improv scenario where they are each humiliated in order to appease Rilla.
They get so caught up in this they don't notice Rilla returning with her pipe. They tentatively apologize, and she allows them to continue their story. When they finish, she prompts Arum to say the words "may we all love each other as family until the Saints rise again", and they all dig in. Before they get very far, however, Rilla tells Tal and Arum to leave while she tells off Marc and Damien. As the two stand outside nervously, Arum tells Talfryn about a monster, celebration, Echidnacht.
