Olala: I’m some guy you met twice, in the middle of robbing people who never hurt anyone in their lives both times. If you don’t think this partnership is based solely on how useful you are to me, you’re not paying attention.

—Sir Lamorak of the Piercing eye[src]

Sir Lamorak of the Piercing Eye is a retired-knight-turned-theif of Wayward East Press (WEP) who is known for his ability to see any problem through to its solution. His Piercing Eye made him a proficient monster slayer in his younger days, and has been credited for hundreds of dead monsters due to his efficient strategies. He loves reading and finding forbidden secrets, and fills his house with the books he steals to find ore and more information.

Early Life[]

Though Lam went through squires training to become a knight, it was never a big dream for him. He felt pressured to become a knight due to everyone telling him to since he was a child[1]. and was very successful in both the slaying of monsters and the planning of battles. He has been called the chief strategist to Sir Galahad the Great.[2] He gained a reputation of having access to secret knowledge that nobody else has attained, and was known for his winning streak in the game 3-point.[3]

At some point he met Posidonia, a mermaid daughter of Mermother Amma, and they eloped together. They decided to start a life together in Silvershore, but when Posidonia came out of the water she passed away in his arms. Lam stayed in Silvershore all the same and had a lengthy career as a thief, enough to make him well known among most local booksellers. He stole and read many books, notably some about the life cycles of mermaids.

History[]

Lam first met Olala stealing from a lion monster's book cart when she sees him through the True-Sight Monocular in Sir Pellinore's castle. They later meet again when he is attempting to steal from Crickitilly's book cart. She recognizes him, and he runs away through the city's underwater canals. Olala follows him with shapeshifting. Once at his shack, she annoys him a bit while he assessses her skills. He asks her to join him on a heist the following morning at 9am. Together they steal two books from the W.E.P Clocktower in central Silvershore. They banter and laugh about it on the way back to Lam's shack, where Caroline has broken in. She demands that Lam steps away from Olala, and reveals him to be a knight of the crown, chief strategist to Sir Galahad the Great.

During this showdown, as Caroline and Lam antagonise each other, while Olala tries to break up the fight. They are interrupted by Sir Tristan the Cold knocking on the door, which panics Lam greatly. Lamorak and Tristan chat for a bit with poorly concealed animosity between them, before Tristan leaves, stealing Posidonia's pearl. Lam follows Tristan to where he and dozens of other knights are gathered the night before their invasion of Silvershore. Lam angrily demands the pearl back from Tristan, who gives it to him and asks him to help strategize the invasion. Lamorak at first refuses, but Tristan convinces him by pointing out how many lives would be lost in a more chaotic battle. Lam agrees to help, but secretly puts a flaw in his plan. He meets with Damien, who threatens him, before Olala arrives to break up the fight. He lets them both in on his plan to ambush Sir Tristan.

Personality[]

Sassy, caring, practical. Willing to lie if he thinks it's the smart thing to do. Loves to complain. Can get caught up in the details of his plans and become anxious about other people following them. Always trying to make up for what he did as a knight. Falls into caring about Olala much more quickly than he expected.

Abilities[]

Incredibly intelligent, knows a lot about how the universe works due to his extensive research into just about everything. An accomplished strategist.

Lam cares deeply for Olala, and is surprised at how quickly he warmed up to her. Is willing to take her in and build a life with her. In one of Lamorak's dreams, Posidonia refers to Olala as Lam's child.

Caroline[]

Though their relationship started out tumultuous, Caroline and Lamorak develop a professional respect for each other and work together to protect and raise Olala.

Quotes[]

LAM: Me? Oh, I’m vincible as all hell. These weeks of hiking in the cold have my back telling me just how vincible I am every day.
LAMORAK: Better start quaking in those boots now, Tengu. I used to be the Three-Point champ, back in my day… forty years ago.

Trivia[]

  • Lam likes to talk to himself due to spending so much time alone in his thieving days.
  • Lam is first mentioned among other "great knights" in season 3. Of these, we later meet Pellinore, Tristan and Lamorak in season 4.
  • Lam has a wooden sword that he's kept since squires training. It was the first sword he was given.[4] He uses it against Cobbleston in Silvered Secrets (Part 2), against Caroline in Ocean Oracle (Part 1) and duels the Tengu with it in Indomitable Duelist (Part 3) before throwing it off the mountaintop.
  • It seems that Sir Lamorak never handed in his resignation, and remains a knight of the crown.[3]
