The Abbess was the leader of the nuns of The Garden of Graves, a convent of witches who cared for the Everdead trees, and helped raise Olala. She honed her hands until they could cut as well as blades.

Early Life

It is unknown how long she has been a sister in the nunnery, but she is incredibly dedicated to them and seems to have been the Abbess for a long time.

History

Gives Olala lessons in caring for Everdead trees, but gets called away by Sister Tiilei telling her of a concerning reading of the future. Olala wanders off, and returns to see the Abbess warding off the Kite with undead familiars of sisters who came before. This is unsucessful, but before Olala can see her fate she is whisked away by Tiilei. In the distance the sound of the Kite using the thunderbird on the soulkeeper can be heard, killing the Abbess along with the rest of the Sisters.

Later, Olala has a vision from the spirit of the Garden of Graves itself. This features the Abbess and some other Sisters taking care of Olala, though this is merely an imitation of them and not their actual spirits. The Abbess is among the souls that the Kite attempts to suck into the soulkeeper.

Stern, commanding, no-nonsense.

Possesses some magical power as a sister of the Garden of Graves. Able to summon undead familiars of sisters who came before.

Olala

Cares deeply for Olala, but dosn't know how to interact with older children. Once tried to give Olala a naptime, which she hated. At one point asked Olala to take notes, forgetting that she had not been taught letters yet.
