The Monster Senate is a group of monsters from The Northern Wilds that congregate annually to vote on political matters and to judge and punish monsters on crimes commited against other monsters. Their meeting place changes every year, so each member is given an Ostracon to point them in the direction of where the senate is held, as well as prove their right to vote.[1]
History[]
Many thousands of years ago, The Three Saints met with the Monster Senate and offered to be ambassadors for the King.
The year before the attack on The Second Citadel using the Fear-Bug, the Senators congregate to plan their attack. Senator Gunkler and Senator Snoutt are the strongest advocates for attacking the Citadel, with Snoutt especially as head of the War Hogs wanting the war to continue. They commision Lord Arum to create psychic creatures using the Moonlit Hermit in order to target the Queen specifically.
The year after the Northern monsters decide to attack the Second Citadel, the Monster Senate congregates in a giant shell near Fort Terminus by the Northern Edge of the World.[2] The proceedings are headed by Judge Helicoid, who is pretending to be the Spiral Sage.[3] During the proceedings, Lord Arum was convicted of “breach of contract,” “destruction of things that belonged to him but really sort of belonged to all of us when you think about it,” and “criticism." He was sentenced to being thrown off the edge of the world, but was saved by Rilla. The Monster Senate later feels the need to apolagize for this, as Helicoid was revealed to be a fraud.
Six years after this, the Monster Senate congregates by the Lake of Tranquility, with the proceedings headed by The Speaker. Talfryn and Rilla ask the Senate to help them against the Off-World Invaders, but they are brushed off and sentenced to execution via gross disembowelment. They are saved from this by Damien.
