Hundreds of years ago, when the First Citadel was destroyed, three armies of monsters came to wipe out the last humans over the course of three days, and three brothers came forward to drive them off. They lived in a village by the sea.

The Festival of the Three is celebrated in their honor, and the year's end is celebrated with Saintsrise.

The Brothers[]

Saint Aaron the Resolute[]

The eldest brother and a mason, who beat the earth with a hammer to create earthquakes that swallowed the monsters of the land. He is celebrated with drums and wrestling matches

Saint Damien the Tranquil[]

The middle brother and a fisherman, who used his fisherman's spear to create whirlpools that dashed the monsters of the sea to pieces. He is honored by Saint Damien's Bells.

Sir Damien was named in honor of Saint Damien, and almost constantly prays to him for tranquility.

Saint Ferdinand the Brave[]

The youngest brother, still just a child during the attack. The rocks from his slingshot turned into thunderbolts that struck the dragons of the air. He is celebrated with fireworks.

Celebrations[]

The Festival of the Three[]

It is a celebration of building, commemorating the victory of the Saints and the rebuilding of the ruined citadel. Each midnight of the festival is marked in honour of a different brother. The first day ends with Saint Aron's drums, the second with Saint Damien's bells, and the third with Saint Ferdinand's fireworks. The days are celebrated with decorative flags and tents, and competitions[1].

Saintsrise[]

An annual celebration that spans eight days; three for each Saint, but only two for Saint Ferdinand, the smallest. It is a time for miracles, generosity and spending time with loved ones. There are songs and a feast on the final day. It is called to an end when the one who has celebrated the least Saintsrises says the final words[2]:

"May we love one another as family until the Saints rise again"
