The Wayward East is one of the four regions of the world in Tales of the Second Citadel. It was once known as the Verdant East.[1]
History[]
Thousands of years ago, it was attacked by the Off-Worlders with something resembling an atomic bomb.[2] This event changed the landscape from a green forest full of wildlife[3] to a vast desert with large violet crystals called the Mirrored Plains. At some point after this attack, Silvershore was built and the protective spirit of Silvershore, a baby made of crystals, was created in order to make sure it never happens again. The jellyfish known as Enoch is the only current resident ancient enough to remember that this spirit exists, as he supposedly helped build Silvershore in the first place. When the protective spirit of Silvershore is killed by Sir Galahad, the Off-Worlders attack silvershore again and destroy most of it with bombings, before setting up magic draining machines that take all the magic out of the Wayward East.[4]
Locations[]
The Mirrored Plains[]
A desert covering the majority of the Wayward East. To enter this desert causes Mirrored Madness, which can be cured with dandelions somehow. Mirrored Madness is caused by being exposed to the Universe's feelings, or trauma, through the lense of ones own demons. Having ones mind opened to the Universe's thoughts is too much for a normal mind to handle.[3]
Silvershore[]
A bustling city of both humans and monsters living together. It contains the W.E.P Clocktower. The surrounding silver beach has anti-magic metal in it. The currency is called "coin", despite being colored papers.[5]
The City Beneath[]
Connected to Silvershore, this is where freshwater ocean dwelling monsters live in a city made of coral buildings. It can be traversed by Glass Leviathan, a transparent monster that chairs have been put in.
